Computer Repair Insurance Reports

Independent damage assessment reports your insurer can act on. We inspect your damaged laptop, desktop, phone, TV, or other electronics at our Ravenhall workshop, determine the cause and extent of the damage, and deliver a signed, insurer-ready report - photos, serial numbers, and an itemised repair quote or write-off recommendation - usually within 1-2 business days of assessment. Diagnosis is free, the report is a fixed fee quoted upfront, and walk-ins are welcome.

Why It Matters

Give your insurer what they actually ask for

Insurers won't settle a claim for a damaged computer or TV on your word alone. They want an independent technical assessment of what happened, whether it can be repaired, and what it will cost. A vague or incomplete report is the fastest way to slow a claim down.

๐Ÿ”
Independent Assessment

We assess the damage, not the claim. The report states what failed, why it failed, and whether repair is economical - and because there's no obligation to repair with us, your insurer can treat the assessment as impartial.

๐Ÿ“„
Insurer-Ready Format

Prepared on ProTech IT Solutions letterhead with photos, serial numbers, test results, and itemised costings - the level of detail claims officers ask for, so your claim isn't sent back for more information.

โšก
Faster Claim Decisions

A complete report answers the assessor's questions before they're asked. Claims move faster when the technical evidence is documented properly the first time.

โš–๏ธ
Honest Repair-or-Replace Advice

If a repair is economical, we say so and quote it. If the device is beyond economical repair, we recommend a write-off with replacement guidance. Whichever is true.

FAQ

Insurance report questions, answered

The questions claimants ask us most. Can't see yours? Call (03) 9361 2803 and ask - we'll give you a straight answer before you spend a cent.

How much does a computer insurance report cost?

The initial diagnosis is free. If you need a written report, we quote a single fixed fee before any report work begins - no hourly billing and no hidden extras. Most insurers reimburse the cost of an assessment report as part of a successful claim, so check your policy or ask your claims officer.

How long does the report take?

Most reports are delivered within 1-2 business days of the assessment. If your claim is urgent - you need the device for work or study, or your insurer has set a deadline - tell us when you drop the device off and we'll prioritise it.

Will my insurer accept the report?

Our reports are prepared by qualified technicians after a hands-on inspection and include everything claims officers ask for: make, model and serial number, fault description and test results, cause of damage, photographic evidence, and an itemised repair quote or write-off recommendation, signed on company letterhead. If your insurer or their assessor has follow-up questions, we answer them directly.

What happens if my device turns out to be repairable?

The report includes an itemised parts-and-labour quote so your insurer can approve the repair. Whether repair makes sense depends on the cost against the device's replacement value - if it doesn't, we say so and recommend a write-off instead. If you choose to repair with us, the work is covered by our 1-year warranty.

Do I have to get the repair done with you?

No. The report is independent and it's yours - you can take it to your insurer and have the repair done anywhere, or accept a cash settlement or replacement. There's no obligation to use us for the repair, which is exactly why insurers can treat the assessment as impartial.

My laptop had liquid spilled on it. Can you still assess it?

Yes - liquid damage is one of the most common claims we assess. Don't power the device on and don't put it on charge: that can short components and make things worse. Bring it straight in and we'll open it up, document the ingress and corrosion with photos, and report on whether repair or data recovery is feasible.

Can you write reports for TVs and other large items?

Yes - we assess TVs, monitors, and other large electronics, and we have a dedicated TV repair service. Bring the item into our Ravenhall workshop if you can transport it safely; if it's too large or fragile to move, call us on (03) 9361 2803 and we'll work out the most practical way to complete the inspection.
